Southern California Parents: Put Your Kids To Work!
Parents in Southern California, can't muster up the energy to go to work yourself? Who can blame you! Here is your answer...PUT THE KIDS TO WORK!!! After all, they just fritter their days away napping and playing, why can't they earn a bit of the bacon, too, right? Well, here's one idea of something they can do: Background work for t.v., movies, commercials, and ads.
All joking aside, this is definitelynota get-rich quick scheme and it also is not a scam where you are asked to buy expensive portfolio photos or pay for acting or modeling classes. I am providing you with this information for absolutely free and would like to point out to you that I obtained it from a friend who was ripped off by a third party company charging her a so-called "fee" to find out about this legitimate employer. Readers, I'm sure you are growing tired of my nagging, but I feel obligated to remind you once again...stay away from these third party "fees;" they are simply rip-offs you can avoid by doing your own homework! For more information about avoiding these and other rip offs please see my article on Avoiding Scams.
Below I have listed the company I used to get my daughter background work in the entertainment industry. I signed her up about four years ago and she has earned approximately $1,000 so far. It is very occasionalwork and we have turned down numerous jobs. Your child will be paid varying amounts, the average being about $110/day. Commercials pay much better than film (my daughter earned about $375 for one day's work). Also, if your child is really serious about getting into acting this could be a starting point as it allows the opportunity to get a few jobs under their belts and on their resumes. There is an initial registration fee of $18 which is very reasonable! They do charge an $18 renewal fee every 6 months, but you can call them and ask them to subtract the fee from your child's next pay check and they will. The company my daughter is registered with is listed below. You will need to call them to schedule an appointment to register with them. Here is the link to their website: Kids! Background. KIDS! For those of you who are interested in more substantial acting or modeling work for your children, but don't want to spend the money on expensive photos and acting classes I know of two agencies that might be of interest to you: The first is The Osbrink Agency. To apply, all the Osbrink Agency requests is a snapshot of your child, a cover letter, and a resume (only if you have one). Here is a link to their website: Osbrink Agency Submissions. The other agency is L & L Talent. The application process is so simple with them, you can do it online in just a couple of minutes! The link to their website is: LLTalent.com.
Update: My daughter was just accepted and will be represented by L & L Talent and was called out on two editions the first month!
